You don’t have to be an athlete to come to The Movement Lab. Our physiotherapists work with people of all activity levels—from competitive athletes and weekend warriors to parents, recreational movers, and anyone who wants to stay strong and active.

Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing pain, returning to activity, or investing in your long-term health, we’ll build your care around your goals.

YOUR FIRST SESSION

Your first physiotherapy appointment is a 60-minute assessment where we’ll discuss your history and goals, assess your movement, and determine what may be contributing to your symptoms. You’ll leave with a clear plan, and treatment will often begin that day.

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move and lets us access the area being assessed. Bring any relevant scans, reports, or referral paperwork, along with your insurance information for direct billing.

No. You can book physiotherapy directly without a doctor’s referral. However, some insurance plans require one for reimbursement, so we recommend checking your coverage before your appointment.

BILLING & INSURANCE

Yes. The Movement Lab offers direct billing for physiotherapy to most extended health insurance providers, when your plan allows it. You’ll only need to pay any remaining balance not covered by your plan.

We accept major credit cards, with payment securely processed through Jane. If we direct bill your insurer, you’ll only pay any remaining balance.

Physiotherapy is covered by many extended health benefit plans, but coverage varies by plan. Performance-only assessments and programming without a physiotherapy concern cannot be billed as physiotherapy, though they may be eligible through a Health Spending Account. We recommend checking your individual coverage.

Motor vehicle accident claims follow a separate process, and we can help you navigate your coverage.

A 60-minute physiotherapy assessment is $125, with 30-minute follow-up treatments at $95. Specialty assessment and treatment fees vary by service, including pelvic physiotherapy and other specialized care. Visit our booking page for current appointment options and pricing.

Absolutely. You don’t need to be actively injured to benefit from physiotherapy. If you have a recurring issue, notice something starting to change, or want to prepare for an upcoming season or goal, we can assess where you’re at and build a plan to help you stay active.

Yes. We treat injuries related to motor vehicle accidents, including whiplash, musculoskeletal injuries, pain, and concussion. MVA physiotherapy may be covered through your auto insurance, and we can help you navigate the process.

No. The Movement Lab does not currently accept WCB claims. If your injury is work-related and being managed through WCB Alberta, you’ll need to see a physiotherapy provider who accepts WCB claims.

THE FEMALE ATHLETE MOVEMENT

The Female Athlete Movement is a community initiative started by Morgan, physiotherapist and Movement Lab co-founder, focused on improving how active women and girls are supported in health, fitness, and sport. Through education, collaboration, and community, we’re working to build better support across every stage of life.

The Movement Lab serves as the home base for the initiative, while FAM brings together a growing network of health, fitness, and sport professionals to help women and girls access the education, resources, and support they need.

FAM is for active women and girls—and the professionals who support them. You don’t need to compete or even identify as an athlete. FAM is about creating better education and support for women who move, while connecting healthcare, fitness, coaching, and sport professionals who want to help move women’s health and performance forward.

FAM is still growing, and there are lots of ways to be part of it. Women and girls can access education, events, resources, and a growing network of support. Health, fitness, coaching, and sport professionals can connect, collaborate, learn from one another, and help build a stronger network around the women and girls we serve.
